The Big Mountain Jam (BMJ) was started by Mike Killpack in 2010. Mike is a resident of the Salt Lake Valley who spent the last 25 years involved in Utah recreation. Before starting BMJ, Mike worked as Director of Sports at Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Killpack organized over 30+ AAU events at ESPN's Wide World of Sports center continuing the AAU tradition of “Sports For All Forever.”

When Mike returned to Utah in 2009 he wanted to bring easy, fun and safe sports to Utah. In 2010, he joined with “ALL-UNDER-ONE-ROOF” to start the Big Mountain Jam in Sandy, Utah. “ALL-UNDER-ONE-ROOF” is a unique concept where many basketball floors are placed in one event center and basketball is being played and watched nonstop throughout the Jam. Players, parents and spectators do not have to travel to other buildings or towns – it’s all in one place, all happening at the same time! Most importantly this concept provides a safe and fun place for players and spectators to spend all day watching hundreds of games and thousands of players in a well organized competitive and exciting environment. 2010 and 2011 was only the beginning with 2012 being an even larger event with more teams, players and spectators.
